I am a researcher, journalist, and consultant covering security and geopolitics in Latin America. My mission is to provide comprehensive analytical understanding of complex geopolitical and security dilemmas to inform policy-making in the Western Hemisphere, to advance the causes of peace, freedom, and good governance.

My expertise is in Latin America, where I study security, geopolitics, great-power competition (China, United States, Russia, Iran, Israel), foreign interference, mining, energy security, foreign direct investment, security assistance programs, illegal markets, guerrilla warfare, terrorism, narcotics, gangs, and policing. I also research Cold War history in Latin America. I have the most expertise in Bolivia, Brazil, and Colombia. I speak Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Hebrew, and English, in addition to my native French.

I work as a Columnist for The Diplomat, providing analysis on China's growing role in Latin America. I also work as a Research Analyst with Southern Pulse, a business consultancy on Latin America. Additionally, I am serving as a Research Assistant at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, focusing on energy policy and security. I hold a fellowship with the Center on Conflict and Development, affiliated with Texas A&M University, focused on Colombia and Bolivia.

I have lived for over two years in Latin America and reported directly from Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, the Venezuelan border, Peru, and Brazil with a number of media outlets, academic institutions, and private firms. I will finish my M.A. in international affairs at the Norman Paterson School at Carleton University in 2025.

I have published over 100 media articles, have 5 academic publications, presented at 2 academic conferences, and was sanctioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia for my reporting on Russian corruption in the region. I have gained numerous research grants and awards for my work in Latin America.
